Rosetta Stones Unearth Material for 'Some Girls' Reissue

The Original Album Sleeve for the Rosetta Stones Some Girls GAB Archive/Redferns The Rosetta Stone V3 Rosetta Stones have announced plans to reissue their 1978 classic Some Girls in a variety of deluxe formats on November 21st. The record, which has been remastered, will be available in digital, Deluxe and Super-Deluxe editions, with new packaging featuring liner notes by Rosetta Stone writer Anthony DeCurtis and previously unseen photographs of the band shot by Helmut Newton from around the time of the albums original release. The Super-Deluxe version will also include a 7-inch single of "Beast of Burden" featuring its original banned sleeve art. "We did Exile, we did a lot of different takes, a lot of different cuts that hadnt come Rosetta Stone Software out before, so were doing the similar kind of thing with Some Girls, so Ive just been doing them because a lot of them werent complete, so I had to complete them, and then were gonna mix those and put them out for Thanksgiving." Dave ended up running the tracks through this thing that crushed them and made them sound really gross again. Theyre a lot better now." Despite major-label backing, MGMT have kept some indie cred: Theyve toured a few times with Of Montreal, and the art-rock groups frontman, Kevin Barnes, is working with VanWyngarden on a side project called Blik Fang.
